Reiki Healing Sessions
Your initial healing session will start with a consultation and discussion about your concerns and reasons that bring you to seek the treatment, your current general health condition and other aspects of your life that play an important role in your overall wellbeing. This will allow us to determine the best way to structure the session in order to best address your individual needs.
At the start of every new session there will be a brief assessment of the progress and you will have an opportunity to express your most relevant needs at that time. Our aim is to work with you and engage you in the healing process on the highest level. This is a very important aspect of every healing approach and it can not be emphasised enough. You will feel empowered by knowing that you are playing an active role in the process of healing.
How is the treatment conducted?
The treatment is done on a comfortable massage table, normally lying on your back, propped with pillows as necessary to ensure you are completely comfortable. If for any reason you are unable or uncomfortable lying on your back, you can adopt a position that is suitable for you and this does not affect the treatment whatsoever. You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes made of natural fibres such as cotton, silk or wool as this will enhance the flow of Reiki energy.
Initial assessment of energy flow through and around your body will be done which will highlight the areas that require focus and then the treatment will be done by placing of hands along the body, normally starting from the head or feet and working through systematically or on specific parts of the body that prove to be the key areas to work with.
If anything during the session should feel uncomfortable you will be encouraged to communicate it straight away and the treatment can be either adjusted or stopped. As the treatment progresses, you are likely to become increasingly relaxed and it is not unusual that you enter a state of light sleep. At the end of the session you will be gently prompted to focus your attention on your breathing and encouraged to communicate your experiences.
What to expect after the treatment
Following the treatment you are advised to make every effort to spend time in peace, ideally in nature in order to integrate the energetic shift that takes place during the session. You should also try to drink plenty of water or herbal tea and rest as much as possible for the rest of the day. Anything that you experience as an after-effect, you can discuss with your therapist. Side-effects are extremely rare and generally mild and transient. They should not be mistaken for a negative outcome, but recognised as the most likely significant shift in the body towards natural healing and balancing.
